Wetlands are vanishing at a very fast rate on the Upper Gulf Coast watershed. Wetlands are a key component the the Gulf Coast ecosystem. They play a critical role in flood detention, stormwater purification, and wildlife habitat, among other functions. This map was developed to help citizens and local governments of the Clear Creek watershed determine if certain wetland habitats should be preserved. This project was funded by the Galveston Bay Estuary Program (with EPA funds).
