TCEQ & TDH Approved for 8 Continuing Education Hours
Web-Based
Soil & Site Evaluation
Basic Introduction
This course is designed for OSSF Designated Representatives,
Site Evaluators, Installers, and Sanitarians requiring CEU hours to satisfy
TCEQ and TDH licensing requirements.
| This is a basic introduction
to soil and site evaluation. Dr. John Jacob, the lead
Extension Specialist in the State of Texas for soil and
site evaluation for on-site septic systems, developed
the course. It addresses the major limitations of soils
in terms of texture, groundwater, and restrictive layers.
The course places a special emphasis on evaluation of
the landscape in terms of shallow groundwater issues. Click here
to see a detailed course outline.

How do I enroll? How is TCEQ or TDH notified?
|
| Registration and tracking of course completion
is through the Texas A&M University System. Upon successful
completion of the Soil & Site Evaluation Basic Introduction course, the sponsoring Texas AgriLife Extension Service office will
electronically submit your CEUs to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). If you are a Sanitarian, print your certificate when you complete the course and mail to the Texas Department of Health (TDH).
Once you have enrolled in the course at http://agrilifevents.tamu.edu, you have one
year to complete the course. All required reading and testing
is from your home or office computer, so NO TRAVEL IS REQUIRED.
|
| • |
Do I have to complete the entire course at one
time without a break? |
You do not have to complete the entire course
in one sitting in front of your computer. The course is
organized in five modules and your progress is tracked by
module completion. There is a short quiz at the end of
each module.
|
| • |
What do I do to successfully complete the course? |
To successfully complete the course, you
must earn a 100% passing grade on each of the five module
quizzes and the final. If you miss a question on a quiz or the final, you can keep retaking until you score a 100%.
|
| • |
Do I need any printed material to take the course? |
There is an online Reference Workbook located
on the course website which will open in Adobe Acrobat Reader. After opening the Reference Workbook, you can print it
and have it available for the course. The workbook is forty
pages, including the appendix. If you do not have Adobe
Acrobat Reader, there is a link provided on the course website
which enables you to download it.
