Registration                                     

On-line registraion is now open!  Registration Deadline:  March 24, 2008.  The University reserves the right to determine the feasibility of the course based on the number of student registrations received by March 24th.  If the course does not continue, refunds will be provided to registered students. 

NOTE: A significant discount can be offered to non-profit organizations.  Please contact course facilitator for discounted fee.

Course cost is $925, includes a box lunch each day.  (Cancelled registrations received before the March 24th deadline will be refunded less a 5% processing fee).

Instructors

John Jacob, Ph. D.

Jacob is coauthor of the Texas Coastal Wetlands Guidebook and a top regional wetland expert with over 20 years of field xperience. He is registered as a Professional Geoscientist-Soil Science with the State of Texas and is also a Professional Wetland Scientist with the Society of Wetland Scientist. He has conducted hundreds of wetland delineations and has published extensively in the field. He is widely recognized as an engaging teacher, and is in constant demand from Master Naturalists and other groups.

Larry Brown, Ph. D.

Brown is a professional plant taxonomist and a recently retired college instructor with over 30 years of teaching experience.  He is a coauthor of Vascular Flora of the Little Thicket Nature Sanctuary and Checklist of the Vascular Plants of Texas.  He has completed plant surveys for the City of Houston, Harris Count Flood Control District, and TXDOT.  Brown is widely recognized as a plant expert for the Houston area. 

Jim Webb, Ph.D.

Webb is a professional wetland scientist, recently retired from his 27-year professor position at Texas A&M University at Galveston, where he taught classes ranging from "Wetland Ecology" to "Use of GIS in Coastal Resources."  His interest include coastal habitat and plant community relationships and wetland delineation techniques.  Webb is well-known within the wetland professional community and frequently sought after for his field expertise and knowledge.

Charriss York, M.S.

York is a professional field biologist whose experience ranges from floristic inventories and vegetative monitoring to wetland restoration and native species propagation.  Ms. York’s work spans multiple plant communities, including prairies, forests and wetlands. 

Heather Biggs, M.S.

Biggs is a professional GIS Specialist who has worked in the Natural Resource Sciences for over 9 years.  Her experience with the Environmental Institute of Houston and Texas Coastal Watershed Program spans aerial rectification and assessment to regional mapping.

John Davidson, B.S.

Davidson earned his B.S. in Marine Biology from Texas A&M in 1986 and is currently the Unit Leader in the Compliance Section of the U.S. Corps of Engineers. He has worked for the Corps for over 25 years in both the Compliance and Regulatory branches. Mr. Davidson is currently on the National Team for the Development of the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plains, supplement to the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual.
