Wetland Restoration Team

The Wetland Restoration Team is truly a representation of something gone seriously right!!! The Team is a partnership of the TCWP and several chapters of the Texas Master Naturalist program.

The Wetland Restoration Team receives training in plant identification, plant maintenance and propagation, and wetland restoration planning and techniques. The Team invests anywhere from 20 hours to 120 hours per year per member.

The major work of the Team includes restoration and plant maintenance. Because we manage about 7,000 to 10,000 plants for all the given projects, the Team depends heavily on student participation. The Team members act as mentors to the students providing the knowledge and expertise to complete the restoration project.

From the onset of our restoration project, Texas Master naturalist volunteers have been involved. The dedication and formidability of these volunteers always exceeds my expectation. Obviously, 10,000 plants are not going to managed by one person (or even 2 volunteers for that matter, like our illustrious first two members: Dick Benoit and Carolyn Lovell).

We began as a crew of 2 or 3, and have grown to a crew of 10-15 people working on established workdays each month. Our crew expansion has been largely due to input and persistence in recruiting for the project.

But we always need and welcome new members!! (Click here to get printable flyer in PDF format)
